The Low Down

If you want to keep hiking after the arrival of a newborn, the ERGO makes it possible. Unlike other carriers that have external frames, the ERGO is lightweight, can be used on the side or on the front and uses soft padding and hip belts to distribute the weight. With the "infant insert," you can use the ERGO from birth up to five years.

Set-Up

The ERGO can be set up as a front carrier, side carrier or back carrier.

For the front carrier, secure the hip belt first. Then, bring the straps up over your arms and secure the clip at your neck. Pick your baby up, guiding his/her feet down through the pouch. Your baby's legs will wrap around on either side of your stomach, if he/she is old enough to hold up his/her head.

If you're using the infant insert, you'll have that in the ERGO before you bring the straps up over your arms. If you're using the insert, your baby probably cannot wrap his/her legs around your stomach yet. When you guide your baby into the ERGO, cross his/her legs first.

Comfort

Since the ERGO distributes your baby's weight across your shoulders, back and hips and is centered in your body, the ERGO is a very comfortable way to wear your baby on walks, hikes and around the house.

Weather Resistance

You can get the ERGO wet, but it's not recommended.
