Getting There

Route Finding

The trail is clearly marked and easy to follow.

  • The first 6.5km from the parking area at the Tugela river, the path is relatively flat, following next to the river.
  • The last 1.6km of the trail is a bit more strenuous as it requires 3 river crossings, some boulder hopping and climbing through a natural tunnel with the assistance of a chain ladder. Most people of average fitness will be able to do this, but many turn back at the first river crossing, missing the opportunity of seeing the waterfall just a couple of hundred meters away.
