The Low Down

Valles Caldera National Preserve in New Mexico, USA occupies the crater of an enormous, dormant volcano. Hiking trails along the caldera's rim are available for free, or you can pay a little to hike on some of the resurgent domes in the caldera, an experience rich in scenery and solitude.
